The Online Professional Certificate in Therapeutic Practice with Sex Offenders has been developed to provide counsellors, psychotherapists and other practitioners such as psychologists, probation officers, social workers and project workers with the necessary knowledge, skills and tools to work therapeutically with this client group. The course also prepares practitioners to work with partners of such individuals and with couples, where one party is at risk of sexual offending.
The pre-requisite for joining the certificate course is a recognised diploma in counselling, or a professional qualification and experience of working with individuals who pose a sexual risk, or completion of the StopSO COFRA 121 training programme.

Sunday September 4: Introduction to counselling clients who pose a sexual risk 11am-1pm: 2-5 pm

Sunday September 11: Attachment, trauma and mental health issues 11am-1pm: 2-4 pm
Sunday September 18: Working with neuroatypical and adolescent offenders 11am-1pm: 2-5 pm (Reflective Learning Group) Andrew
Sunday September 25: Paedophiles (Offending or Non offending) 11am-1pm: 2-4 pm
Sunday October 02: Power, control and paraphilias, sexual assault and rape: 11am-1pm: 2-5 pm (Reflective Learning Group) Andrew
Sunday October 9: Internet offending and sexual addiction: 11am-1pm: 2-4 pm
Sunday October 16: Working with female offenders: 11am-1pm: 2-4 pm
Sunday October 23: Legal/child protection system issues: 11am-1pm: 2-4 pm
Sunday October 30: Couple work: sexual/gender identity issues. 11am-1pm: 2-5 pm (Reflective Learning Group) Andrew
Sunday November 06: Working with non-offending partners and family members. 11am-1pm: 2-5 pm (Reflective Learning Group) Andrew
Each Session will run from 11 am to 4 pm (with an hour’s lunch break) an additional one-hour reflective process group will also run on six of the Sundays, from 4pm to 5pm.
Examination will be via students completing an on-going reflective learning log of not under 2000 words, and a viva conducted by telephone or Zoom. Completion of all of the 10 days, the learning log and the viva is necessary in order to be awarded the Professional Certificate.
The cost of the Certificate is £1500, which can be paid in full or in 3 monthly instalments. (Members of the StopSO Therapist Network receive a £100 discount)
