Workshop Description

Internet offences are a growing problem with around 500 people caught each month. This CPD is aimed at therapists who wish to work with the individual and support them in coming to terms with the devastation that their behaviour causes to themselves and their families. It focuses on advice on working with individuals who have become addicted to porn and/or
downloaded illegal images or engaged in sexualised chat with a child.

The CPD shows how the therapist can support the client in exploring their intense emotions: stigma, doubts, fears, trust, intimacy, trauma, conflict and shame of the situation they find themselves in. It provides some techniques on working with how to build empathy, avoid minimisation, develop healthy fantasy and provide the client with psycho education on their triggers, addictive behaviours and offending models. In turn this helps to manage risk and reduce re-offending.
