An updated from StopSO Patron Simon Bayley QPM on the world of offending and progress with changing attitudes.
Risk and treatment considerations with minority groups – Dr Ruth Tully and Dr Jennifer Bamford
Both Ruth and Jennifer are experienced forensic psychologists who have worked with a wide range of presentations in respect of sexual and other risks. They will be presenting on working with, and risk considerations specific to, those in minority groups or with specific presentations such as ADHD. Discussion will focus on identification, formulation, and management/reduction of risk factors with specific attention given to treatment considerations.
Exploring How Certain Features of Autism Spectrum Disorder May Provide the Context of Vulnerability to Engaging in Sexual Offending – Professor Clare Allely
What is autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Clare will go on to explore in detail how certain features of ASD may provide the context of vulnerability to engaging in a variety of sexual offending behaviours including the viewing of indecent child images (IIOC). Case studies will also be included throughout to provide context to the theory and discussions.
Aim3 – Before they came to you – Current Practice Issues re Adolescents and HSB – Carol Carson
An overview of the current practice issues relating to adolescents and HSB, including trauma informed and neurodiverse practice. Useful for thinking about the developmental journey through adolescence re HSB for some adult clients and for anyone adapting their work due to increasing referrals re adolescents.
Offender Misuse of Emerging New Technologies – A Law Enforcement Perspective – DS Andy Marsh
An oversight of current CSA offender misuse of technologies, such as VR and AI. This talk will discuss how offenders are utilising these technologies to advance real world offending along with the emergence of worrying levels of sadism within ‘virtual’ CSA settings. This input will touch on where offending is currently, what aspirations offenders have for these technologies and a realistic estimation of when those aspirations may be reached.
